Giving Account
In Romans, 14:12, we read, "So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God." To know that we are governed by divine Love, is to know that we are governed by God, for "God is Love." This knowledge can only be gained by the daily practice of truth, as taught in Christian Science, and shows us what it means for man to "give account of himself to God."
The account must be perfect; it must measure up to the divine standard in every detail, and must be free from every material or false belief. We must give an account of health, because God will not accept an account of sickness, for He is the source of health, harmony, and has made man in His own image, after His likeness, and pronounced His work "very good." Now it is impossible to conceive of sickness as being good. Therefore, it is unreal, and is proved to be a false account, which is wiped out and destroyed by Christ. Truth.
We must give an account of strength, because God is Almighty: "The Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself," and as man "possesses not a single original, or underived, power" (Science and Health, p. 475), it is impossible for him to give account of weakness by yielding to temptation, either morally or physically, for God's government is the government of strength.
