Letters to our Leader

[Extract from Letter.]

I thought you might like to hear about our "overflow meeting" at the Mother Church. Last evening there was a testimony that I thought would be especially interesting to you. A gentleman from Scotland said that many years ago he was offered a drink "to keep him warm," and from that time he had an appetite for liquor that he could not overcome. He came to this country hoping for relief, but it still pursued him continually. His bible was the Boston Herald, and one day he saw in its columns a reply by Alfred Farlow to an attack on Christian Science. He procured Science and Health and the result was the "depraved appetite" left him. He did not strive against it, but it simply ceased to be. He was also healed in like manner of rheumatism, with which he had been afflicted many years. At the close of his remarks he gave a beautiful tribute to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Others spoke of being healed through reading Science and Health and expressed gratitude and love.

I often wish you might be at these meetings and hear of the fruits of your incessant, loving labor of which the world has only a faint conception.
