For twenty years I hardly knew a well day, I was miserable...
For twenty years I hardly knew a well day, I was miserable most of the time. Although I was able to be around and attend to some of my household duties, I was far from well. I doctored, and tried several kinds of patent medicines, but all to no avail. Three years ago I went to a physician, who told me I had the gout in both feet, and also congestion of the spine. I took his medicines and treatments for some time. At the same time a relative of mine became interested in Christian Science, and began attending the services. I went with her just for company's sake. I well remember how I carried my bottle of medicine with me to the church so that I might take it at the regular time. I became much interested in Christian Science and thought it a beautiful religion, but I was not willing to give up my remedies.
The following spring I had a severe attack of the grip, which I had had regularly for five years. Then I decided to trust to Christian Science alone. I gave up the use of all medicines and read Science and Health, which this relative had given me. In a short time the grip was overcome. Gradually the other old ailments, for which I had doctored so long, disappeared. To-day I can say I am a well woman, able to do all my housework. I took no treatments but was healed by attending all the services and meetings, and reading Science and Health together with the periodicals. I thank God for this blessed truth which makes free indeed, and I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for revealing it to us.
