Consecration
When speaking to the students gathered at her home at Pleasant View in June last, our Leader said, "Trust in Truth, and have no other trusts." There has not been a day since I heard those words from the one who knows whereof she speaks, that they have not been pondered, and their import grows greater as time passes. There comes constantly to the worker a temptation to try some other way than this, and if one is not watchful, he will be working from the standpoint of the "natural" or mortal man, which will result in confusion and final despair. With what joy can one turn to infinite Mind with "the assurance which comes of understanding" (Science and Health, p. 223), and say, "He shall bring it to pass," and in turning to his source of supply, we find that which is needful, and see again the wisdom of having no other trusts.
Since that day at Pleasant View I have consecrated myself anew to trust in the Lord with all my strength, and lean not unto mine own understanding. A short time ago when at a business meeting, there seemed some anxiety about the welfare of the business. Then the thought came, Your Saviour is Truth. "Trust in Truth, and have no other trusts." I mentioned to the other students that we were given a way to meet every condition scientifically, and should have no other way. The condition was met, and again I realized that "He shall bring it to pass; and He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday."
As one who has indeed been led beside still waters and made to lie down in green pastures, who has felt something of what it means to love one's neighbor as one's self and to pray for one's enemy, to have an overflow of heart that desires my brother to share the same joy, I count myself most happy in that I am privileged to accept Mrs. Eddy's invitation "drink with me the living waters of the spirit of my life-purpose,—to impress humanity with the genuine recognition of practical, operative Christian Science" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 207).
