Healing
Hoopeston (Ill.) Herald
The error which causes sickness is always Truth's opposite, a lie; hence it is the understanding of the truth concerning God, and man in his relations to God, which heals.
Science and Health says, page 391, "Sin is the foundation of sickness, and you can master sin through divine Mind; hence it is through divine Mind that you overcome disease."
Since "sin is the foundation of sickness," true healing must result from the destruction of the sin, because when the foundations are destroyed the most gigantic error will disappear. How shall we proceed to do this? Ask God for wisdom to reveal all that is hiding Truth from us; then know the falsity of every claim of power to harm or molest God's child. Know that there is no pleasure in sin, that it is the very obstacle to health and peace. Be so conscious of the omnipresence of good, that the seeming hindrances have no place,—thus we may make it easier to realize that there is nothing so much to be desired as to forsake all that is unlike good. The body will improve when the thoughts turn resolutely away from all error and we learn to love that which is pure and true. Truth is the beginning and end of true healing, which enables you to "put off the old man," by being "renewed in the spirit of your mind." Righteousness is not sick, or diseased. It is always a mistaken sense of what is good, or an ignorant, careless, material sense which leads into suffering. This sense must be instructed out of its mistake, and led to seek good where alone it can be found, in the spiritual understanding of what man is, the image and likeness of God, absolutely free from all that is unlike good.
