A Just Judgment

Without meaning the slightest disrespect to any of the other bodies of Christian worshipers by the assertion, we confess we do not think that there is a denomination that can truthfully boast of having a more intelligent, industrious, honest, moral, God-fearing membership than the Christian Scientists.

The Christian Scientist seems to have taken hold of the right end of the movement for the reformation of the world. He appears to have grasped the idea that failure awaits him who goes about promiscuously reforming the world. His idea is to reform himself. He reasons, and reasons correctly too, that when each individual in a community reforms himself, that community will be a reformed community. And when all the communities of the world are reformed in this way, the world will be reformed.

Like the blind person whom Christ restored to sight, the Christian Scientist knows he was once blind, but now he sees; he once suffered tortures, now he does not fear even death.
