Shortly after coming to Christian Science I had a beautiful demonstration. I had gone to New Haven, and while there I became ill. My friends called in a physician who pronounced it a case of typhoid fever, and added that if I had not improved by the following morning they would have to send me home. He also stated that there were fully two hundred cases in the city. He left some medicine for me, but I told my friends I could not take it, as I believed in Christian Science.
I immediately wrote to a Christian Science practitioner asking for help, but the following morning I was seemingly worse, and my friends telegraphed to my father, saying that I would be home in the afternoon. My friend then accompanied me to the depot. Meanwhile the Christian Science practitioner called at the house, and when my friend returned she explained to her the reason of her visit. My friend exclaimed in surprise, "Why, she is on her way home now, and I accompanied her to the train, how then can you be giving her treatment?" The practitioner told her that it was absent treatment she was giving. All the way home in the train I experienced no pain, and when my father saw me he exclaimed, "Why, you don't look a bit sick!" I received three days' treatment after I reached home, and was perfectly well. For some time after, my hair fell out continually, but this was also overcome by Truth. I am most grateful to those who have helped me to get the understanding of Christian Science, for through it I have been enabled to overcome evils in myself and others.
