For about twenty-five years I was almost continuously...

For about twenty-five years I was almost continuously addicted to the habit of smoking cigars. By the exercise of will power I was often able to discontinue the habit for periods of time running upward to thirteen months.

I always came back to it, however, as a means of solace in solitude, or as a theoretical sedative for nervous complaints. The appetite was incessant and seemed to demand gratification. I often boasted of my self-control in frequently putting it aside, but I never succeeded in extinguishing the habit.

One afternoon over a year ago, while smoking a cigar and reading "Miscellaneous Writings" by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I was suddenly conscious of having no desire for tobacco. The habit and desire were completely destroyed by the truth and love expressed in that little volume. I have never since smoked a cigar nor have I ever desired to do so. I am very grateful for this release, and for the sense of freedom and dominion which the demonstration has brought into my experience.—ERNEST C. MOSES, Chicago, Ill.
