One night not many days ago my little girl, ten years old, had every appearance of having been poisoned by ivy. She said to me, "Mamma, coming from school to-night, Charlotte dared me to pick poison ivy. I said it would not poison me; she said it would; I said, No, it would not, and I picked some and rubbed on my cheeks, and eyelids, and put a leaf in my mouth. Now my face itches so I'm afraid it has." I talked to her a few minutes on the words, "Ye shalt not tempt the Lord your God," then gave her treatment; and in an hour repeated it. In the morning no trace of the error was to be seen.

Two days after this my boy of eight years awoke in the morning with eyes swollen so he could hardly see. His face and hands were red and burning and he felt too uncomfortable to eat his breakfast or go to school. I gave him treatment at once, told him he could go, not to be afraid, and that all thought of trouble would soon be gone. He went with many misgivings, but returned at noon whistling all the way, having forgotten all about the error. It had disappeared before he reached school. He had brought home a bunch of ivy leaves the day before and pressed them.

I send these demonstrations as a slight token of my sincere gratitude to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for showing us how to live as God's own children.
