I became interested in Christian Science through the healing of a broken ligament, about six inches above the knee. When I first consulted myi physician he prescribed a liniment, but after using it faithfully for three weeks, and getting no relief, he then put my leg into a plaster cast for three weeks. This, like the ointment, failed. I next tried osteopathy, and later static electricity, but with no permanent relief; in fact, at the end of seven months I was no better. My physician then said I had better consult a surgeon. Mrs. Belknap had heard many things about what Christian Science had done, and suggested that I try it. I had no faith in it because I knew nothing about it, but I thought it could do me no harm, so decided to give it a trial before resorting to an operation. I took my first treatment on Thanksgiving day, and on Christmas day, I was absolutely free from any pain, soreness, or lameness, and have been entirely free from same ever since December 25, 1899. On December 13, 1899, after only about three weeks' treatment, I was well satisfied with my progress of healing, and began to get some understanding of the Science, so I decided to try to make a demonstration myself. On that day I laid aside my glasses, which I had worn for at least eight years for astigmatism. I could not recognize a person thirty feet from me. Last summer I was able to play golf, and can now see a ball a hundred and fifty yards. I have not had glasses on since the day I took them off, December 13, 1899. I have had many other demonstrations in overcoming asthma, sore throat, coughts, colds, burns, and lately an ulcerated tooth. I suffered no pain, ate all my meals as usual, slept soundly at night, and was entirely relieved the third day. I am very grateful for what Christian Science has done for me. I am better physically and spiritually, and no money could buy my little understanding of Christian Science.
Edwin C. Belknap, Chicago, Ill.
