Health Is Spiritual
Christian Science classifies sickness as error. It also classifies the belief that health is material as error. In fact, sickness is simply one indication, one symptom, of the false belief that man is dependent on matter and its conditions for health and harmony.
True health is spiritual. It has nothing to do with matter or its conditions. Prayer in Christian Science beholds man in true health. It does this through spiritual sense, which is the perceptive faculty of thought at one with Mind. Mind is God, and as we acknowledge the allness and goodness of Mind, its presence, its power, its nature as divine Love, we are able to perceive Love's image where a sick mortal seems to be. Health is a primary quality of Love's image. But the sick mortal never had true health to regain.
The error of sickness is included in the error that sees man as a mortal, sick or well. Attempting mentally to see someone in good material health does not help the healing process, but beholding in Science the real man corrects the error of sickness and restores harmony. In his Epistle to the Romans, Paul wrote (6:16), "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"
