WHAT SHALL WE SAY?
Christ Jesus once said (Matt. 10:19,20): "Take no thought how or what ye shall speak. ... For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you." In Christian Science, Jesus is the Exemplar. Before answering any question or statement, it is well for us to turn quickly from the testimony of the material senses and wait in receptive expectancy for God's answer.
Christian Science teaches that in turning to God, we must watch that we entertain no human notion of what His answer will be. We must exclude the belief of independent mortal thinking and recognize our oneness, as idea, with divine Mind, God. We must not even feel that the answer must be one of words. Perhaps some loving action or possibly silence will be indicated.
We should not feel that our answer must be one that will prove that we are right and that the one whom we are addressing is wrong. An admission that we may be wrong in our human opinions will bring about harmony, the end we most desire, better than stubbornly sticking to our point.
