Speaker: Is life at the mercy of material conditions?
A Sunday School superintendent reports progress as follows:
When I was a child, my home was broken up, and from the age of four to fourteen I lived with various relatives.
When we were being taught sacred stories in school, and later at catechism class, these thoughts came to me persistently: Since Jesus healed the sick instantaneously and without medication, why cannot we do the same nowadays?
My first attitude toward Christian Science was resistance, even though I did not know a single thing regarding its teachings.
Having been reared in Christian Science and having attended the Sunday School, I count it a blessing to have been taught at an early age to turn to God for help in the solving of every problem.
For many years I have turned eagerly to the testimonies of healing in the periodicals and have read them before anything else.
My introduction to Christian Science came during my junior high school days.
It is with sincere gratitude to Mary Baker Eddy for her wonderful gift to the world, brought forth in her discovery of Christian Science, that I write this testimony.
Many years ago a loving aunt placed the textbook, "Science and Health with Rev to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in my hands and asked me to read it.
