THE HUMAN AND DIVINE COINCIDENCE
There are practically no isolated segments of society today. The interests of the people are so interrelated that a major disturbance in one area, industry, for instance, has its effect upon even those who seem not to be personally involved. It is almost impossible to be mere spectators.
It is undoubtedly true that human thought is becoming too top-heavy. Scientific and technological advances are far ahead of moral and spiritual development. The remedy is not to set up additional moral standards, but to conform our thinking and our lives to those we already have. Moral and spiritual values are so closely related that without spiritual strength it is not always possible to conform to moral law.
"John saw the human and divine coincidence, shown in the man Jesus, as divinity embracing humanity in Life and its demonstration,—reducing to human perception and understanding the Life which is God." This outstanding statement is from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 561). In Christ Jesus, John found the perfect blending of divinity with humanity, spirituality with morality, and this coincidence is as available to us through Christian Science as it was to him.
