Many years ago a loving aunt placed the textbook, "Science and Health with Rev to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in my hands and asked me to read it. For three days I did little else but read this book. Though most of it was not understood, a remarkable healing of a painful and chronic rheumatic condition took place at that time; but like the nine of the ten lepers who were healed, I expressed little gratitude. It was some years, and many trials, later before there was a willingness to accept the whole truth as presented in Christian Science.

Mrs. Eddy states on page 142 of the textbook, "We must seek the undivided garment, the whole Christ, as our first proof of Christianity, for Christ, Truth, alone can furnish us with absolute evidence." With this change of basis came a complete healing, which has been permanent, of the smoking and social drinking habits. This opened the way for church membership and a new way of living, which has proved a blessing to me and to those about me. I have had many other proofs of God's care.

I am grateful for the loving help of practitioners when a condition has not yielded to my own prayerful work. My gratitude is boundless for a more loving and understanding nature which has released me from a false sense of responsibility toward loved ones, but has allowed each to work out his own salvation. Learning to know more of God and of man's relation to Him is an ever-new pursuit, each day's study bringing fresh inspiration, as a result of which God's man may be more joyously expressed.
