"Trust in the Lord with all thine...

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding'" (Prov. 3:5). This was the basis of a healing of weakness and fear which, if not corrected, I felt could result in a physical breakdown.

A member of my household who was not a Christian Scientist was bedridden by reason of a serious illness. This occurred at a time when I myself was learning new-work. It appeared necessary to devote my utmost attention and energy to the work and to use my free time for rest and relaxation in order to be able to carry on. However, this person needed to be cared for; so the added duties of making her comfortable and of keeping up the activities of the household fell upon me.

I found myself wondering how I would ever be able to do it. Then the above quotation came to my mind. I also held firmly to God's allness and power, and this verse from Psalms helped me (18:32): "It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect." I knew I could not work for the member of my family without her consent, but I did pray earnestly for my own clarity of thought and for guidance.
