DEMONSTRATING OUR TRUE IDENTITY
It is vital that we learn through Christian Science how to identify ourselves truly, for this will have a practical value to us in our everyday lives and will bring many beneficial results. It will make the difference between health and sickness, success and failure.
The best way to learn how to identify ourselves properly in Science is by a humble, patient, and faithful study and practice of the inspired Word of the Bible and of the writings of Mary Baker Eddy. She writes in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 477), "Identity is the reflection of Spirit, the reflection in multifarious forms of the living Principle, Love." In reality one's identity is Spirit's reflection. And it is our privilege and duty to demonstrate this fact.
According to the Bible, man is made in the image and likeness of God. Since God is Spirit, man is spiritual, not material or physical. Moreover, since God is perfect Principle, Love, as Christian Science teaches, the real man is good and perfect. God is the only cause and creator, and there are no flaws or mistakes in His creation. In Genesis we read (1:31), "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good."
