THE TENDERNESS OF OMNIPOTENCE

Christian Science teaches that God is Spirit, the only true substance and the source of all power and action. In the expression of His power and activity, God can never disturb nor harm His infinite spiritual creation, for He is divine Love, which preserves all in a state of peace, harmony, and perfection.

One of the qualities of omnipotent Love is tenderness, which accompanies its every activity. Tender omnipotence well describes the nature of our Father-Mother God. For God, divine Love, sustains and governs all of His ideas.

How tenderly Christ Jesus, God's representative, encouraged the sick and the sinner in restoring them to health and righteous activity; yet with what power he demonstrated the truth of his convictions! What thoughtful and tender solicitude he expressed to his discouraged disciples, when, after the resurrection, he came to them as they were disconsolately toiling on the sea! Not only did he show them how to fill their net with fishes, but he also provided the warmth of a fire and supplied them with food.
