THE SUPERIORITY OF SPIRITUAL METHODS

With compassionate reassurance Christian Science proclaims to a world teeming with vexatious problems that spiritual power, the power of God, meets all types of human need.

After Christ Jesus' night of prayer in the garden of Gethsemane, when Judas came with a multitude to take him prisoner, our Master made no attempt to escape or to defend himself with human means. He even addressed Judas as "friend" (Matt. 26:50). But by addressing him thus Jesus was not attempting to appease error. A study of the accounts of this episode in all four Gospels shows that Jesus was taken prisoner only because he was willing to be taken in order that he might give greater proof of the power of God by raising himself from the grave.

Mary Baker Eddy says in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 170), "The method of Jesus was purely metaphysical; and no other method is Christian Science." In the proportion that Christian Science is honestly and accurately applied to today's problems, both individual and collective, they can be successfully resolved.
