LOVE, THE WAY TO UNIVERSAL HARMONY

How is it possible for mankind to overcome the manifold discords that have been so prevalent down through the ages? Attempts to overcome them through the human mind have been of little avail.

The master Christian, Christ Jesus, gave the recipe for overcoming all evil in the following commanding language (Matt. 22:37, 39): "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.... Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." These words have been loved and cherished for hundreds of years, but Christian Science requires that one make them practical in human experience by healing the sick and sinning.

In her work "Rudimental Divine Science," Mary Baker Eddy answers the question, "How would you define Christian Science?" in these words (p. 1): "As the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony." The divine Principle of universal harmony is God, divine Love, and Love expressed can alone solve humanity's ills. A variable human sense of love cannot solve them.
