THE SAFETY ZONE

A Young woman stood calm and unafraid in a safety zone with the busy traffic passing in both directions. She felt safe in this place provided by a law of the municipality. She thought, Oh, if only there were a safety zone to protect one from the lurking foes of fear, doubt, and discouragement and from the mad rush for place, power, and prestige!

A short time later Christian Science was presented to her, and she immediately began to study its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Through this study, law acquired a new significance for her. She found that the understanding of law needs to be lifted above the chance, change, and uncertainty of human sense to the acknowledgment that God, unerring Principle, controls and regulates all.

Her thought went back to the safety zone. She realized that in reality it is the law of God operating in the individual consciousness that makes one desire to be obedient to law and order and that it is this obedience which would always protect her.
