SUPPORTING THE LECTURE ACTIVITY

A Christian Science lecture, sponsored by a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, is primarily a missionary effort of that church in its community. And the missionary activity of any good and noble cause is a precious facet of the existence and prosperity of that cause. Therefore it behooves each Christian Scientist earnestly to work for and support the activity of the church which is presenting the lecture.

In doing proper metaphysical work for the lecture activity, it is well for each member to consider that a Christian Science lecture presents an elucidation of the truth of God and man: that God is Spirit, Mind, and that man is His spiritual idea, or reflection. The lecture brings to human comprehension the Word of God. "The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebr. 4:12). When a Christian Science lecture is properly viewed and appreciated as a spiritual idea, expressing the omnipotence and omnipresence of God, we demonstrate that it embodies its own defense and support. And when this is acknowledged and understood, we do not have to be afraid that anyone is a target for malicious mischief or for any other error, no matter what form such errors may seem to take.

Error, or mortal mind, has no power to dethrone Truth. Error has no reality; it cannot touch or affect Life or its manifestation. Error cannot deprive divine Love of its healing results. The Word of God is all-powerful to accomplish that which it sets out to do, and when we are receptive to this fact, we experience in our lives a higher sense of harmony, health, and holiness.
