From babyhood I had been troubled with frequent attacks of bronchial asthma. My parents had sought help for the condition from medical practitioners and herbalists, but to no avail.

When I was fourteen the condition became more acute, and at this time a local tradesman recommended to my parents that they seek help from Christian Science. My mother remembered that her sister was a student of Christian Science; so arrangements were made for me to join the Sunday School of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, which my aunt and her family attended. Here I was taught the fundamental truths of Christian Science; and gradually I realized that since God is perfect, I, as His image and likeness, must be perfect.

The healing was not instantaneous, but the attacks of sickness grew less frequent until finally I was entirely free. Throughout this time, I was given constant, loving consideration and help from Sunday School teachers and members of the branch church. The thought of this still gives me great joy and encouragement. A few years after this I was medically examined and pronounced fit for my two years of military service.
