SPIRITUAL REVOLUTION

A Revolution is taking place in the minds of men, and it concerns far more than the rise and fall of governments and empires. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Christian Healing"' (p. 11), "We are in the midst of a revolution; physics are yielding slowly to metaphysics; mortal mind rebels at its own boundaries; weary of matter, it would catch the meaning of Spirit."

As in all revolutions, there is resistance to a new order; and the resistance of outmoded material beliefs to the transforming truths of divine metaphysics will continue until these truths are universally accepted and false beliefs are abandoned. It is astonishing that a revolution in physics which begins in the thought of an individual can soon sweep the world in influence, once new ideas are accepted, and bring quick release from many frustrating limitations imposed by matter. But in the natural sciences progress in the breaking down of material limitations is no doubt coincident with the enlightenment regarding the unreality of matter which is coming to many individuals in this age through Christian Science.

This Science teaches that matter is not something external to mortal thought, but is its way of seeing things. In other words, matter is the subjective state of the finite, or mortal, mind, and this fact resolves matter into a mental picture in a mind that has no actual being, since God is the only Mind.
