THE REIGN OF TRUTH, LIFE, AND LOVE

In the Manual of The Mother Church, Mary Baker Eddy gives the "Daily Prayer," which alert Christian Scientists use. She writes (Art. VIII, Sect. 4), "It shall be the duty of every member of this Church to pray each day: 'Thy kingdom come;' let the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love be established in me, and rule out of me all sin; and may Thy Word enrich the affections of all mankind, and govern them!"

The realization of the importance of fulfilling this obligation grows as our understanding of Christian Science increases. We find that obedience to the "Daily Prayer" protects us from the temptation to believe in a power opposed to God, Truth, Life, and Love.

Early in his career Christ Jesus was called upon to prove the protection which obedience to the reign of Truth, Life, and Love affords. In the fourth chapter of Matthew it is recorded that Jesus was tempted of the devil. It was the Master's firm understanding of the reign of God that saved him from the temptation to admit what the devil, alias evil or animal magnetism, suggested: that there is a power other than God.
