KNOWING AND LIVING THE TRUTH

When we really understand something to be true, no evidence to the contrary can convince us of an opposite claim. What we truly know, we know, regardless of conflicting evidence. This is a latent and inherent characteristic of each individual. A common example of deceptive evidence is the apparent revolution of the sun around the earth. Regardless of what our eyes tell us, we know that is not what is actually happening.

Because of some bitter human experience, men often believe either that God's will for His children includes evil, or that men revolve in orbits of their own where they can act or react independently of God's will.

Confronted with such evidence, what are we to do? Are we to say, "Since the son can do nothing but what the Father does, this disease, this moral weakness, this relentless aging, must be God's will being done"? Or are we to say: "Man is created separate and apart from God. He can fail to express God. He can fail to act wisely or to be the immortal, pure, and perfect idea of God"? Shall we not answer both of these questions in the negative?
