WRITTEN IN HEAVEN

To those accusing onlookers,
The Master spoke no word,
But stooped and wrote upon the ground,
As though he had not heard.

The follies and the sins of men
Are written in the earth,
Dissolving when the penitent
Perceives his native worth.

The true and lasting record tells
Of man, to whom is given
This for rejoicing constantly:
His name is written in heaven.
