"WHAT THOU SEEST, THAT THOU BEEST"

Jesus defined eternal life, substantially, as a present knowledge of God, Spirit, and of His emanation, the Christ, which Jesus exemplified (see John 17:3). In his Sermon on the Mount, the Saviour showed that true seeing leads to the demonstration of true being. One of his great Beatitudes assures us (Matt. 5:8), "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." And he pointed out the way of life, when he said (Matt. 5:48), "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

We know that our perception of and our obedience to the principle and rules of mathematics enable us to work out mathematical problems. Likewise we can be sure that our perception of perfect Life, Truth, and Love, as revealed in Christian Science, and our obedience to the immutable laws of Science enable us to demonstrate our real selfhood as Spirit's perfect expression.

Seeing truly, we relinquish the false sense of being physical. We begin to understand man as the idea of God, divine Mind, pure, whole, and free from all limitations, including disease, sin, and death. But because mankind does not accept metaphysical truths as readily as mathematical facts, we find that it requires courage, patience, and persistence to prove what we perceive through reason and revelation in Christian Science.
