GOD'S KINGDOM WITHIN

In Christian Science one of the names for God is divine Mind. Two other designations for God are consciousness and intelligence. Mind, consciousness, or intelligence is the governing Supreme Being, which includes all creation.

In this perfect consciousness or divine Mind there is no unconsciousness, no death, no material person, place, thing, or thought. The one perfect Mind is the only Mind, and this one Mind is the Mind, intelligence, or consciousness of everything that exists. It is the source of all action and resources. It holds its creation in a perpetual state of heavenly harmony, peace, prosperity, and right relationships. In this Mind alone is to be found the ever-present kingdom of heaven.

How different is this description of God and of His perfect spiritual creation from the generally accepted concept of Deity as a magnified mortal and of the universe as consisting of material persons, places, and things, of many minds, and of many conflicting opinions! This false testimony leads to the belief not only that God created a material universe, but also that He knows and permits sin, sickness, lack, and death. It leads as well to the acceptance of the belief that heaven is a place to be attained after death, a place of eternal rest and self-gratification, similar to the allegorical garden of Eden, or a city made of gold and precious stones.
