"He hath shewed thee, O man,...

"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" (Mic. 6:8.) It is with a sense of humility that I tell of my early experience. A physical difficulty, medically diagnosed as cancer, brought me face to face with a serious decision. The physicians said an operation might bring relief.

A friend recommended Christian Science and gave me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It was during the depression years, and I had little money for an operation. Also I had heard that people had received healings just by reading this textbook; so I decided in favor of Christian Science.

My family felt at that time that I should continue to use drugs to relieve the pain. But as I thought about it I could see that this was not in accord with the teachings of Christian Science. One day when I was alone and suffering extremely, I turned to God instead of the drugs for help and gained relief. From that time on I had less and less trouble. When I had completed the reading of Science and Health, I suddenly realized I was entirely healed. That was over twenty years ago, and the healing has been permanent.
