THE MEEK IN HEART
The
soft rebuke—how kind it was—
and then
in pure reflection of God's grace
the outstretched hand to ease the hurt;
and following fast the tender word
that turned reproof to heaven's song.
So winningly is gold refined
when wisdom's holy certitude
drops gems of angel clarity
to comfort disappointed heart
and change remorse to grateful praise.
A friend of God is friend to all.
Truth penetrates receptive heart,
in patience pierces calloused thought.
Be constant! This may be the day!
What rich reward Love's meekness gains
when through its power
a friend who once was bound walks free!
