RADIO PROGRAM No.247 - The Healing Leaven of Truth

Speaker: What a wonderful thing it is to be lifted out of ill-health and despair into health and happiness! I know our guest, Mrs. Anne Goldman, of Flossmoor, Illinois, will be glad to tell us how her whole life was made over when she gained a completely fresh view of God and man.

Mrs. Goldman: In the spring of 1942 I became very ill, so ill and weak that I didn't see how I was going to bring up our two boys. I was in and out of the hospital for observation and X rays. I was told that I would always have to be on a very strict diet and that I would never be able to eat raw vegetables or fruit. The trouble was diagnosed as ulcerated colitis, and there were other complications. There was much suffering, and many times I cried out to God to help me. The answer came in a very wonderful way. The winter prior to this I'd lived at a motel in Tucson, Arizona, where I'd taken our two boys for their health (they'd been ill almost constantly, with colds, allergies, bronchitis, and so on). The woman who managed the motel where we stayed was a student of Christian Science, and she told me about this religion. I didn't understand much of what she said. But one thing did remain in my thought—that Christian Science heals. So that spring when I became ill, I thought of my talks with her again. I'd often passed a Christian Science Reading Room when I took the children to the park, and this always reminded me of the woman's statement that Christian Science heals.

So finally one day I went into the Reading Room and spoke to the librarian. It seemed that nothing else could help me; so I asked her if she thought there would be any help for me in Christian Science. She spoke very lovingly and helpfully and told me that nothing is impossible to God. She offered to lend me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and I accepted it.
