I will praise thee, O Lord,...

"I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations" (Ps. 57: 9). About fifteen years ago one of my fingers became badly infected, a condition which created severe pain and an inability to use the hand and arm.

I was employed in the home of a Christian Scientist, who asked if I should like to have prayerful help in Christian Science. Fearing surgery would be necessary if I were attended by a medical doctor, I visited a practitioner of this religion, who talked with me of God and man.

He patiently explained the true concept of the Bible statement (Gen. 1:27), "God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him." I then began to realize that in reality I was created in the likeness of Spirit and that I was wholly spiritual and Godlike. Therefore I did not and could not possess anything ungodly, such as pain and disease.

Upon leaving the practitioner's office, I suddenly became aware of my freedom from pain. The following morning the finger drained thoroughly, and I was free. At the same time, I was healed of wearing glasses, which I had used steadily ever since childhood.

Some time ago I was seized with a severe abdominal pain which confined me to bed for about three months. My full reliance was upon God and Christian Science treatment. I received help from the same practitioner who had helped me before.

He lovingly visited me during this trying period and assisted me in understanding spiritual man, referred to on page 475 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Here Mrs. Eddy speaks of man as "that which has not a single quality underived from Deity." From this I understood that, in truth, I could not experience a single condition that did not emanate from my Maker, the perfect God, the source of all perfection. The difficulty was healed and has not recurred.

I am profoundly grateful to God, who is All-in-all, for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, for our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has given the revelation of Truth to this age, and to the practitioner, whose untiring patience and love helped me so much. For membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, I am unceasingly thankful. —(Mrs.) Hilda Norris, Brooklyn, New York.
