"THE WORK OF RIGHTEOUSNESS"

"The work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever," declares Isaiah (32: 17). Here the law of cause and effect is clearly given. Righteousness is doing that which is just, virtuous, in unswerving conformity to divine laws.

Right thinking and acting, based on divine laws, result in harmony, uplifting the receptive thought and rejecting and destroying mortal laws with omnipotent Truth. Prayerful thinking and acting provide an indispensable foundation for a Christian Science treatment. They require one to hold firmly, in spite of mortal evidence, to the truth or divine laws as given in the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

In the Bible we have proof after proof of the harmonious effect of righteous thinking, as seen in the experiences of Noah, Joseph, Moses, Daniel, and many others. In spite of the flood, the desert pit, the Red Sea, and the den of lions, these great Bible characters received the reward of their right thinking—freedom from error and exaltation over it.
