YOUTH AND THE CERTAINTIES OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE

The attraction of Christian Science for young men and women has always been a noteworthy feature of the Christian Science movement. It is illustrated today in the steady growth of Christian Science Organizations in colleges and universities, in the many groups of Christian Scientists in the armed services, and as always in the activity of young people in our churches and Sunday Schools and their actual healing work. When young men and women see what Christian Science is and what it offers them, they are drawn to it as to nothing else. It readily becomes their chief interest.

This is of course true of all who grasp the practical meaning of Christian Science, but it is true in special ways of youth; and these ways deserve the careful consideration of young people themselves, as well as of those who deal with them.

The essential appeal of Christian Science for those just starting on their adult careers lies undoubtedly in the release it offers them from uncertainty. Through this Science they learn that their experience is not subject to chance or to any force beyond their control. They learn that it can be governed scientifically by themselves, always with resulting progress, enrichment, and satisfaction.
