PROMISE

The hills that rise above the pastured vale,
Whose rugged forms are outlined on the skies,
Seen through revealing Science show the peace
And grandeur which God's universe supplies.
The sunshine on the restless, shimmering wave
In patterned light, a joyous cheering ray,
Is but a symbol of the glory seen
In glowing radiance of Truth's endless day.

The roseate sky, the green and sapphire sea,
The varied flowers, the dewdrop's rainbow sphere,
Are hints of perfect beauty—never found
In mist of matter, but in Spirit clear:
In Spirit, where with opened eyes we see
Beauty of holiness, unblemished, pure,
The real substance of the universe
In which God's promise is fulfilled, secure.
