Christian Science was met in our family with skepticism and incredulity until, at a crucial period in my experience, I had the privilege of living with two earnest students of this practical religion. Their steadfast daily application of the truths found in the Bible and in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, furnished a fine example for me. Their patient, loving answers to my questions, many of which were doubtless trying and irrelevant, brought a deep respect for them, and I began to study Christian Science.

Many difficulties were met and mastered through this study. However, one question was so often asked by curious acquaintances that it echoed in my own thinking: Would I place radical reliance on the teachings of Christian Science should a real crisis occur?

This question was answered beautifully one hot summer night. Since I worked all day in an office, it was necessary to do home chores after dinner. While I was canning peaches a glass jar broke when being taken from the hot water and cut my thumb to the bone. Immediately I declared aloud, "God is omnipresent Love and is right now filling all space and proving this picture a lie."
