In 1934 it was proved to me that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." While I was at work, I was stricken with such pain that I had to be brought home by a fellow workman. My wife, who is a student of Christian Science, called a practitioner and then asked me to repeat the Lord's Prayer after her. This I did with much effort.

My company asked me to have a medical examination, and a physician was called. He at once rushed me to the hospital, where three doctors diagnosed the ailment as ulcers of the stomach. The next evening the head surgeon said to my wife: "This is a miracle. We do not have to operate. The only thing I can say is that there is a greater power than ours that has made the operation unnecessary."
