Over thirty-seven years ago my first healing in Christian Science took place overnight. I had been suffering from an abscess in my nostrils and had had several sleepless nights. One evening a friend who was a student of Christian Science came to our home. In the conversation I mentioned this condition, and she asked, "Why not try Christian Science?"

The next day my wife made an appointment with a Christian Science practitioner, and in the evening we went to her office and explained my case. The practitioner was very kind and said she would do some prayerful work for me. After she explained something of Christian Science to us, we went home. I slept through the night and awakened healed in the morning. This healing convinced me that Christian Science is the truth, and after making an earnest study of it I became a member of The Mother Church and later of a branch church, where I have served in various capacities.

In 1930, while working on a furniture truck, I had an accident and broke four ribs. At first I could not move. Then the thought come to me (Isa. 40:31), "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." I was able to walk about two miles and then take a train home. After I reached home, I sat in a Chair but could not get up again. My wife helped me upstairs and called a Christian Science practitioner for help.
