"THE LANDMARKS OF SCIENCE"

As the early pioneers in America began to push back the frontiers of the land, trekking across a roadless and uncharted wilderness, landmarks became very important to them. Often nothing more than a sandy river bed or the pinnacle of a distant sandstone butte, breaking the horizon across the vast rolling plain, served the vital purpose of informing the traveler that he was on the right track and keeping him there.

So it is today with Christian Scientists. One ceases merely to read and enters upon active study of the Science of Christianity after he passes the stage of doubt or polite but passive interest. He soon gains an awareness of the fact that the revelation which came to Mary Baker Eddy is the way of salvation. He begins to learn that he can demonstrate his way out of the false belief that life is in matter and prove that life exists in Spirit, God, of whom man is the eternal reflection. There are many landmarks along his journey to buoy his hope and convince him that he is on the right path. Health and better morals are usually among the first of these landmarks.

The writings of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, abound with statements which guard the student at every stage of his development from thinking theoretically and straying away from the living waters of Truth. Christian Science is not abstract. It is practical.
