It is with an increasing sense of gratitude to God that I give public testimony to the redemptive and healing power of Christian Science. I was quickly healed of the desire for alcohol and tobacco. Others have been encouraged and blessed by my release from these habits. Freedom from them has been a distinct asset in my business, professional, and social life. Through the application of Christian Science, I have also been healed of hay fever. This Science protected and guided me in fighting dangerous forest fires when I felt burdened with the responsibility for the safety of many men and much equipment.

Three years ago I was healed of sciatica, which was accompanied by intense pain. Relief and healing came when I was able, with the encouragement of my wife and the help of a faithful practitioner, to regain some measure of lost joy. Once when the pain was intense and the outlook dark, my wife and I sang hymns from the Christian Science Hymnal far into the night. The next day an adjustment took place in my back, bringing relief and healing.

Our family has had many healings, for all of which I am grateful. But for the redemptive influence of Christian Science in purifying character, I am even more grateful. On page 354 in "Miscellaneous Writings" Mrs. Eddy writes, "A little more grace, a motive made pure, a few truths tenderly told, a heart softened, a character subdued, a life consecrated, would restore the right action of the mental mechanism, and make manifest the movement of body and soul in accord with God." For some understanding of the meaning of these truths and for all the provisions made by Mrs. Eddy for giving Christian Science to the world, I am most grateful.—Vincent W. Bousquet, Klamath Falls, Oregon.
