Christian Science has been the...

Christian Science has been the only religion I have ever known, and I have many reasons for expressing deep gratitude for this wonderful truth. Among them are all the activities of our movement, particularly the Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services. My youngest son, who is now serving in the Air Force, is being blessed by the support and love of The Mother Church, by the faithful Christian Science Ministers for the Armed Services, and by branch church members, who indeed make him feel at home. What a joy to know that our boys are so well cared for while they are in the service of their country!

In the "Communion Hymn" Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, asks (Poems, p. 75), "Felt ye the power of the Word?" This sustaining power was felt a few years ago when I experienced a nervous breakdown. My healing surely made me stronger and firmer in my conviction that the power of the Word of Truth is omnipotent.

I am truly grateful for all Christian Science practitioners and especially for the one who so lovingly supported me during this proof of God's care. No matter what hour of the day or night a call was made, there was always the strong, comforting assurance that, as the Bible says (I John 4:18), "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear." Many times there was an almost overwhelming sense of fear to overcome, but always after the practitioner's reassurance I would gain a greater sense of peace and quiet.
