"GOD, THE MIND OF MAN"

PROBABLY no truth which the Science of Christianity unfolds is more vital to the well-being of humanity than the revelation that God is the Mind of man. Mary Baker Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 470): "The children of God have but one Mind. How can good lapse into evil, when God, the Mind of man, never sins?"

To grasp the fact that God is the Mind of man, one must realize that man is not a sinful mortal, possessing a limited mind of his own. He is the idea of divine Mind, its image, hence a spiritual being. And he reflects the same Mind which all ideas reflect as their Mind and source.

What can one expect of divine Mind—the Mind of man? He can look to this Mind for existence and sustenance, for every thought and quality that characterize him as the offspring of Deity. One can know that as Mind's image he reflects the wisdom which never errs, which never lacks knowledge, judgment, or resourcefulness. Since Mind is omniscience, one can know that he reflects retentiveness as well as the intelligence which makes retentiveness valuable and effective.
