Signs of the Times
Rev. Bertram R. Wyllie, M. A., B. D. in a sermon in The Methodist Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
What is the purpose of our prayer? With what presuppositions do we come to pray? There are those who regard God as an occasional intruder into the ways of the world in response to man's appeal. They believe that in order to secure His interest in human situations it is necessary to engage in long and impassioned pleading.
For others, prayer is always a last resort; when all other possibilities have been tried and have failed, they hand over the situation to God.
