EQUANIMITY

Equanimity means serenity, a calm state of thought, peace, and composure. Who does not long today to enjoy peace of mind, to be calm and composed, to manifest joy and peace? The Master, Christ Jesus, showed us how to express and experience these qualities of God, good, by understanding and obeying divine law.

Many books have been written to help men overcome fear and to comfort the distressed and fretting thought of mankind; but where else, except in the Bible, may we find such commands and promises as these (Isa. 41:10): "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

When distressed and involved in mental or physical inharmony we are often given human opinions or theories which are supposed to help us overcome these conditions; but we find that human theories and opinions are subject to revision and change and therefore are not truly reliable and trustworthy. Because of this, there is a longing for something better to turn to for help and peace of mind, something with more certain and satisfying results.
