"WHO DID HINDER YOU?"

One of the most comforting and vitalizing convictions which an understanding of Christian Science brings to humanity is that man is God's image and likeness. This image has no individual initiative and authority apart from God.

The teaching that God and His idea, the man of God's creating, are eternally related as cause and effect is emphasized throughout the writings of our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. As the divine Principle of all reality, God is forever giving to man the intelligence and spiritual perfection which constitute his true identity. Infinite good is everywhere present, fully manifested, and illimitably expressed; it is the one true activity of the universe. God's government is supreme, all-controlling.

There is no barrier to one's progress and development, beyond what his limited, human sense of self and ability sets up. Without question one can become conscious of as much goodness as the present need demands and can let that goodness be expressed, if he is willing to claim his God-given dominion and conform thought and action to the divine pattern. "Who did hinder you," asked the apostle, "that ye should not obey the truth?" (Gal. 5:7.) And the implied answer is, "No one but oneself."
