"GOOD TIDINGS OF GREAT JOY"

In Luke (2:10) we read, "The angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people." And so it will ever be, not alone for the shepherds on that solemn but eventful night of the birth of Jesus, but for all mankind to share. Christmas, in its true sense and significance, brings with it an abiding joy, fulfillment, and brotherly love.

Mary Baker Eddy says in "A Christmas Sermon" in "Miscellaneous Writings" (p. 163), "He who dated time, the Christian era, and spanned eternity, was the meekest man on earth." Jesus was meek, but true meekness includes patience, love, selflessness, and humility. How beautiful, and how powerful the message that the Master brought to all mankind!

The search for God down through the centuries runs like a golden thread, neither completely obscured by clouds of darkness and ignorance, nor broken by discord and wars. During all this time and at different periods, we have had prophets, men of spiritual vision, showing the way of Truth. This thread of light was evidenced in the career of Jesus, who showed the way of salvation for all times and all peoples.
