I am grateful to God for Christian Science. It was in a city of the United States that I first came to know of this Science. I visited a Reading Room and read some of the chapter on Prayer in the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. My thoughts were illumined, and I realized that what I had read and meditated on had spiritualized my thinking.

Some months later I returned to my home in London, where I found that my mother and aunt were interested in Christian Science. After three months' stay at home I sailed for Australia, and there a relation who was a student of Christian Science recommended that I visit a Christian Science practitioner.

The practitioner explained Christian Science to me, and a short time afterward I thought to myself, "If Christian Science heals, it can heal me of smoking." In a week or two I was completely free from the appetite for tobacco, and I have never smoked since this healing, which took place many years ago. At that time I gained a glimpse of Truth which was helped me to be steadfast in difficult situations.
