THE ANSWER

I Sought life's answer—
"Why," I asked, "does each one live?"
Out of the mist the answer came—
"To give."

"What shall I give?"

Again the answer unfolded like a flower:
"Give unto the Lord glory, honor, and power.
See in your brother every Godlike grace.
See him as God's own child, without a trace
Of disease or sin. Supply his human need:
If he be naked, clothe him; or hungry, feed;
If he be weary, give him a place to rest;
Unhappy, cheer him; thus blessing, you'll be blessed."

I sought life's answer—
"Why," I asked, "does each one live?"
Out of the mist the answer came—
"To give."
