EXAMINATION TIME IS OPPORTUNITY TIME

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

Examination time can be a joyous opportunity to bear witness to one's true nature as an intelligent, capable spiritual idea of infinite Mind. Does this seem too visionary or beyond one's ability to experience right now? If so, let us see how one individual was able to rise above popular fears and torments and to learn through positive proof that examination time can be a real opportunity to experience good.

A college student once faced a particularly difficult final examination in a course in which he was barely above failure, despite his efforts to overcome a continuing state of confusion. To make matters more disheartening, his professor said that it was very unlikely that his grade could be improved by any mark he might attain in the examination. The college student, however, was a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School and was learning about the true nature of God and man. He had had many proofs that right thinking, based on the teachings of Christian Science, offsets human misconceptions, and he had witnessed instances of this in his schoolwork.

The student visited a Christian Science practitioner who agreed to help him claim his divinely inherited birthright of intelligent ability. Together the practitioner and the student acknowledged that God's work is already done and that they had but to demonstrate this fact. They saw that God is one infinite intelligence, or divine Mind, and is never without His manifestation, perfect man. They knew that God does not bestow gifts upon His son without also giving him the ability and opportunity to utilize them.
